If this is your first time buying ear protection, you’ll need some plugs to house your filters.
Flat attenuating acoustic filter technology.
Offering outstanding acoustic performance in a discrete miniature package, the DM series of music filters has been designed specifically for musicians. DM filters provide state of the art hearing protection whilst maintaining clarity of sound with full music dynamic.
Normal earplugs have a tendency to provide too much attenuation where it’s not required, this is due to the use of cheap materials and little in the way of design. This unequal reduction of sounds results in muffled speech and music sounding unnatural.
DM Filter technology ensures the user has air constantly flowing into the ear, this ventilation reduces the occlusion effect and irritation within the ear canal maximising user comfort. The combination of air flow and flat attenuation permits the user to hear conversations and still experience the full music dynamic without muffling or loss of sound at higher frequencies, or the need to remove the plugs.
The DM Black has an SNR value of 25 dB offering mid/high attenuation, suitable for music SPL up to 110 dB. This attenuation level is satisfactory for many applications.
Who uses The DM-25 (Black) Music Filter?
DEC’s DM Music Filter range provides a tuned, flat attenuation response, so that all frequencies are reduced by almost the same level. This means the listener loses nothing of the original sound, it’s just brought down to a safe level. This makes DM Filters suitable for a wide range of applications, especially if the noise source is at a constant level across the frequency range
MUSICIANS - The DM range is especially suited to musicians who's careers rely on them protecting their own ears from the high levels of sound during practice and performances. The DM range of passive filters has been developed for use in custom earmoulds (soft or hard) making them extremely suitable for professional grade protection, but also works with universal plugs for occaisonal use and it is fully interchangeable with other Dynamic Ear Company filters for easy adjustment to the required level of attenuation.
The DM-25 (Black) is well suited for musicians who play at very loud levels like drummers.
Specifications are subject to change without notice and indicative only. Attenuation is calculated according CE norm EN 352-2 by ISO 4869.2 for high (H), medium (M), low (L) frequency level and as the single noise attenuation rating (SNR).
“I spend a lot of time at gigs, playing at gigs and working with bands. I met the Hearology representatives at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. A lovely bunch of people who showed me their unique and innovative products. Got my ears scanned for the custom made plugs as well as a simple procedure to remove excessive wax from my ear canal. Highly professional from start to finish and knowledgeable about aural care and their products.”
“The music department at Hearology provide a familiar point of contact for people such as myself who work in the industry. I’ve used them for a number of artists that I work with and also invited them to look after the artists at Slam Dunk festival 2017. Their willingness to go the extra mile, whether that means finding an appointment for someone at the last minute to fit with a touring schedule, or even travelling to wherever the band might be is what sets them apart.”
“Being a musician, I've had to have my ears looked at numerous times from hearing tests to ear wax removal to having ear plugs fitted. I can't recommend Vincent enough. Everything fully explained throughout the procedure which helps ease any anxieties one may have. Go if you're worried about anything to do with your ears!!!”
“Much of my work as a composer has been writing for brass bands, and having grown up in that scene, the dangers of noise exposure were never really something that was talked about. I’ve performed in just about every environment you could imagine over the years, mostly without any hearing protection. Thankfully, there seems to be a trend towards better awareness of noise and I think it’s great that Hearology are at the forefront of this movement. It’s great that they are actually working with musicians to make sure that it’s done properly.”
